Introduction:
Discover the exquisite Puchang Beichun 2019, a remarkable wine made from 100% Beichun grapes, a traditional Chinese variety known for its unique character and flavor profile.
Vineyard:
- Region: Turpan Valley, Xinjiang
- Soil Type: Alluvial soil rich in carbon, with traces of gypsum, Gobi coarse gravel, and a mix of sand and silt, complemented by some surface clay.
- Viticulture: Certified organic and Ecocert approved, our vineyard benefits from a south-facing position in a valley basin at 650m above sea level. The vines, own-rooted and 20 to 30 years old, yield around 65hl/ha, ensuring the utmost quality in every bottle.
Production:
Crafted by the talented winemaker Tartaglia Loris, only 27,000 bottles have been produced.
Winemaking Notes:
Our grapes are hand-harvested in small 15kg cases on September 1, 2019, ensuring the selection of only the best fruit. After hand grading, the grapes are de-stemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks at carefully controlled temperatures to preserve their aromatic qualities. A post-maceration period of 20 days enhances flavor complexity before aging for 30 months in second-use 500L French oak barrels. The wine undergoes minimal filtration to maintain its authentic character.
Tasting Notes:
The Puchang Beichun captivates with its light red cherry hue. On the nose, experience a delightful blend of herbal and floral notes, complemented by ripe plums and a hint of spicy cinnamon. The palate is complex yet refreshing, characterized by soft and elegant herbal tannins, subtle tobacco, and a balsamic finish. Mirroring the elegance of carobs, this wine showcases a balanced acidity that leaves a fruity and mineral finish.
Serving Suggestions:
For optimal enjoyment, serve at a temperature between 16-18°C.
